It’s been a while since the last time I told you about how my current writing projects were doing, so I thought I would do a little update. It also helps me to stay accountable, and keep track of my progress, to be honest.
The Purple Sky Series
The second volume is on its way. I finished gathering the poems, I just have to edit and organize the manuscript, then format it. I had a goal of 200 poems and I went beyond it, so I’m quite happy with it, but I might remove some while editing. I hired a new illustrator for the book cover, she will start working on it as soon as I give her the exact dimensions for the book (and for that, I need to know how many pages there will be haha). The title of this new volume will be “Leaving The Haunted Castle”, and we’ll dive into topics related to family, childhood trauma, growth, and the idea of breaking the cycle and becoming your own person. It should be all ready in June, but because I feel like summer is not the best time to publish it, it may be postponed to September.
Short-stories collection
During the last Camp NaNoWriMo, I managed to write quite a lot for this one, which I’m very pleased with. I’ve been struggling with this first draft, I got stuck a lot but now it feels better. Actually it doesn’t really feel like a first draft, because I reworked it so many times haha. The title will be “It’s Okay, Spring Will Come”, there will be around 10 contemporary stories evolving around the ideas of time, the never-ending passing of the 4 seasons, and the importance of bonds between people. I think I’m like halfway through it. I had lots of ups and downs will writing this one, so I’m not sure when I will be done with it. It may be a short collection, but I don’t want to push stories to be longer if they are not meant to be longer, you know. We’ll see.
Fantasy Novel
I started this one during the last NaNoWriMo in November 2021. I already have a book cover for it, but no title yet. I really love the story, I think it’s going to be a YA Fantasy Romance. I’m not the best with putting my stories into categories, but I guess it should be these ones haha. The main character’s name is Aileen, and I love her. I wrote more than 40,000 words for this one, so I think I’m halfway through the first draft. I’m still conflicted about making it a stand alone, or a series, though. I hope I can publish it next year.
Fanfiction Rewrite
I have a fanfiction that I want to turn into a novel. It’s a Naruto fanfiction, and I think it’s the longest story I’ve ever written in English, so I’m quite proud of it. I published the first part, and the second part in 2021, I only have the epilogue left, to write and to publish. When I’m done with this, I will start the rewrite. I already have lots of ideas to build a fantasy world around it so I’m pretty excited to get started ! This one will be more New Adult Fantasy I think, maybe darker. There will be gay romance, too, at the core of the story.
These are my main projects. I’m trying not to stray from them too much, even though the temptation is difficult to resist haha. I tend to have lots of ideas but it’s much harder to actually finish a project, so yeah. Focus is key.
